On June 26, 2019, amendments to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On Approval of the Rules for issuing visas for entry into Ukraine and transit through its territory” came into force.
The changes affected the procedure for obtaining a long-term visa by foreign citizens or as it is also called “D-type visa”. So, now a visa can be obtained both in foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine and in the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that is, without leaving Ukraine. Previously, it was only possible abroad.
We remind you that this visa gives the right to stay or reside in the territory of Ukraine for more than 90 days and is often obtained for obtaining a temporary residence permit and permanent residence permit in Ukraine.
So, take the opportunity to obtain a visa on the territory of Ukraine can foreign citizens who enter Ukraine under the visa-free regime and in the future receive a long-term visa.
An exception to the rule was the category of persons who receive a D visa for family reunification. Unfortunately, they can get it only in foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine.
But for other categories of foreigners, the procedure for obtaining a residence permit in Ukraine has been significantly simplified.
